The ClearChoice "Natural" CLCH100-N refrigerator water filter works to remove foreign contaminants from your indoor water supply. Designed as a replacement for the OEM part #4396508 or EDR5RXD1, this refrigerator water filter can be used in side-by-side refrigerators by Whirlpool, Kenmore, Kitchenaid, Amana, Thermador, and others. Clean, clear water can be available at your fingertips by utilizing this easy to install refrigerator filter. The NL100 creates better-tasting, clearer, healthier water and removes the taste of chlorine from your indoor water supply.

The NL100 refrigerator filter removes impurities from your tap water by using a proven filtration method. The filtration process of the NL100 begins when water from your refrigerator enters the filter chamber. Inside the filter, there is a carbon-filled inner section. As water passes through the carbon, impurities are captured by the carbon and clean, clear healthy water is produced. This clean, healthy water is then available to drink free from contaminants.

Over extended use, the carbon in the filter chamber can begin to degrade after more and more water passes through. To ensure that your filter is working to its peak capacity, routine filter changes should be made. Using a refrigerator water filter longer than recommended can lead to a decrease in water quality, future maintenance issues, and health concerns. This is why it is recommended that you make routine water filter changes every six months so that you never have to worry about not having crystal clear, refreshing water.

It is difficult to evaluate quality vs. the OEM part since I am not testing output water quality. Nor do I have a sense if this OEM replacement filter will last as long as the OEM part (it's only been in service about 4 weeks as I write this review). What I can say is my ice and water are coming out with no taste (a good thing) and the fitment was perfect! Oh, and made in the USA which is not that easy to find - especially if you are shopping Amazon with the hopes of scoring a lower cost alternative to your OEM filter. So 5 stars for value and 4 stars for quality. I certainly recommend this product for its stated purpose and have the sense (not really objective) that you are receiving a better product than so many overseas knockoffs and replacements.

They fit and function well. They do not add any taste to the water but I've, occasionally, noticed tiny, white, particles in the water. It must be parts of the filter material coming loose. It doesn't happen very often and the particles sink to the bottom of the glass so it's easy to see and dump out.

My fridge is 20 years old and I always used the Kenmore filter before. Kenmore instructions were to pour water out a few times, clearing line I guess. NO instructions with yours. When I tried pouring water out it spewed all over the place! I finally got it to stop.The first few times I filled my water bottle it was full of bubbles; this was new to me. This filter fits like original, and performs well, although it requires a couple of gallons flush to make it remove the bad smell and taste. The previous line of filters were not this way! I also don't have any blackness during the flush as all other filters i have used, this tells me there is not any small charcoal particles to fill voids, which would filter better especially at first.

How to install

How To Install The 4396508 Filter:

Turn off icemaker
Remove old filter by rotating cap about 1/4 turn counter-clockwise
Pull the old filter cartridge out
Remove the cartridge grille cap by sliding it off the end of the old cartridge
Slide the cartridge grille cap onto the new cartridge
With the new cartridge cap in the vertical position, insert the new filter cartridge into the base grille
Rotate the cap clockwise to a horizontal position
Flush three gallons of water through the filter cartridge before use
Turn on the icemaker
